Who can take part

  • Your child must have a blood clot inside the heart, confirmed by an echocardiogram and another imaging test (like an MRI or CT scan).
  • You or your child's legal guardian must sign a consent form agreeing to participate.
  • Your child must have been born at full term (38 weeks or more of pregnancy).
  • Your child must have been taking milk or food by mouth for at least 10 days and weigh at least 2.6 kilograms (about 5.7 pounds).
  • In the past 10 days, your child must not have had any major bleeding problems or abnormal blood clotting test results.
