Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have stage II, III, or limited stage IV cancer (any type).
  • You are scheduled to receive radiation therapy to your chest area (at least 30 Gy) that will include some of your heart.
  • You are able to lie still on your back inside a scanner for about 30-60 minutes.
  • You do not have severe kidney disease or a known allergy to contrast dye or the radioactive tracer used in this study.
  • You do not have any metal implants, pacemakers, or claustrophobia that would prevent an MRI or PET scan.
