PET/CT scan study to track heart damage from cancer radiation

Who can take part

  • You can sign a study consent form and agree to follow all study steps
  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have confirmed lung cancer or esophageal cancer from lab testing (biopsy/cytology)
  • Your planned radiation treatment is expected to be aimed at treating lung or esophageal cancer
  • Your estimated average heart radiation dose is at least 5 Gy (a measure of radiation amount)
  • You must be able to have FDG PET/CT scans safely, and your radiation plan is not only palliative (20 Gy in 5 fractions)
