Who can take part

  • Your baby is born between 26 weeks and 34 weeks of pregnancy
  • Your baby is at least 4 hours old
  • Your baby's mother had her water broken for more than 18 hours OR her water broke before labor started
  • Your baby has no clear signs of infection at 4 hours old (like trouble breathing, seizures, or fever)
  • Your baby does not have severe birth defects or a very low Apgar score
  • Your baby has not already received antibiotics
