Robotic heart bypass with stenting vs. standard bypass

Who can take part

  • You have blockages in more than one artery supplying your heart.
  • You are at higher risk for problems after standard heart surgery (for example, you are over 80, have reduced kidney function, a weak heart pump, or are considered frail by your surgeon).
  • Your heart arteries are shaped so that a robotic bypass or traditional bypass is possible, and some blockages can be treated with stents.
  • You do not have a major blockage in the left main artery, your heart pump is not severely weak (below 30%), and your kidneys are not severely damaged (eGFR below 30).
  • You are not at high risk of bleeding from blood thinners, and you do not need emergency surgery.
