Compare hybrid heart procedure versus bypass surgery

Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old and can give written consent
  • You have multiple major heart artery narrowings that are “significant,” such as very tight narrowing (about 70% or more) or pressure-tested to be significant
  • Your heart history has been reviewed by both a heart surgeon and a heart doctor, and both agree that both bypass surgery and the hybrid option are feasible and could fully treat the important blockages
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (estimated kidney filtering rate below 20)
  • You are not pregnant, and you can safely take two blood-thinning medicines (“dual antiplatelet therapy”)
  • Your heart attack situation fits the trial timing: not a STEMI within the last month, and not needing emergency (acute) revascularization
  • You do not have a blocked left main artery unless there are also significant blockages in both the LAD and the left side (LCX)
