Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are scheduled for a total ankle replacement surgery
- You can give your own permission to join the study
- You are not allergic to vancomycin, cefepime, or cefazolin (Ancef)
- Your diabetes is well-controlled (A1C below 7.5) or you do not have diabetes
- You do not have a weakened immune system (from HIV, hepatitis C, kidney failure, dialysis, transplant, or recent cancer treatment)
