Who can take part

  • You are having a revision (second) total knee replacement where the old implant blocks a common injection site in the shin bone.
  • You can understand the study and give your permission (informed consent).
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are not allergic to vancomycin, cefepime, ancef, or other similar antibiotics used before surgery.
  • You have not received IV vancomycin in the 7 days before your planned surgery.
  • There is no hardware or condition that would prevent an injection into your inner ankle bone (medial malleolus).
