Who can take part
- You are scheduled to have a total knee replacement (first time on that knee).
- You are 18 years or older.
- You do not have an allergy or other reason you cannot receive cefazolin or vancomycin.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or less.
- Your diabetes is well-controlled (A1c level 7.5% or lower).
- You have not received vancomycin or cefazolin by IV in the 7 days before surgery.
