Intraosseous Vancomycin in Knee Replacement Surgery

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older and receive care at UC San Diego
  • You are having your first total knee replacement surgery on one knee only
  • You can give your informed consent to participate
  • Your doctor believes intraosseous (bone-injection) antibiotic delivery is appropriate for you
  • You have not had previous surgery on the same knee (except minor arthroscopy)
  • You do not have a severe allergy to vancomycin, cefepime, or cefazolin antibiotics
