Who can take part

  • You need a new heart valve (aortic, pulmonary, mitral, or tricuspid).
  • You are between 30 days old and 50 years old, with a focus on children and young adults who are still growing.
  • You have few other options for a valve replacement, such as if your body might reject a regular artificial valve.
  • You and your family can travel to Boston Children's Hospital within 48 hours if a valve is available.
  • You are willing to have follow-up care at Boston Children's Hospital for at least 5 years.
  • You do not have serious health problems like active infections, organ failure, or a recent history of cancer.
