Who can take part

  • You are awake during brain surgery for a tumor or epilepsy monitoring.
  • You can speak English without major speech problems (like aphasia or slurred speech).
  • You are able to understand and follow instructions and give your permission for the study.
  • The planned surgery area covers parts of the front and side of your brain used for language.
  • You do not have any metal implants that are not safe for an MRI, and you are not pregnant.
