Who can take part

  • You have epilepsy or a brain tumor and are having surgery at UCSF where electrodes are placed to find the seizure area or guide tumor/epilepsy removal
  • Your surgical plan includes electrodes in at least two targeted brain areas used for the study
  • You are able and willing to cooperate with the study tasks during surgery (listening/doing tasks)
  • You can give informed consent (or your legal representative can, if applicable)
  • You do not have major brain damage that would interfere with the study
  • You do not have significant thinking or memory problems that would prevent you from completing the tasks reliably
