  • You have been newly diagnosed with esophageal cancer that hasn't spread far (locoregional).
  • The cancer type is squamous cell carcinoma (confirmed by a biopsy).
  • You have already received radiation therapy, either before surgery or as your main treatment.
  • Doctors are able to collect a sample of your tumor and nearby lymph nodes for special testing.
