Who can take part

  • You are 12 years old or older, no matter if you are male or female.
  • You are right-handed and of Han ethnicity.
  • You have been diagnosed with depression and score above 17 on a depression severity scale and below 6 on a mania scale.
  • You have completed at least primary school and can understand and agree to the study.
  • You cannot have any metal or electronic implants in your body, or a history of brain injury, epilepsy, or serious health issues.
  • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding, and you cannot have had certain depression treatments (like electroconvulsive therapy or TMS) in the last 6 months.
