Who can take part
- Age: 2 to 17 years old at the time of joining
- Weight: at least 12 kg (about 26 pounds)
- Recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (within the past few weeks)
- No other autoimmune or inflammatory diseases (like celiac or thyroid problems)
- No use of steroid pills or shots in the last month
- Parent or guardian agrees to the study and understands French
