Who can take part
- You were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the last 6 months (and have certain antibodies).
- You are between 6 and 12 years old.
- You use less than 0.5 units of insulin per kilogram of body weight each day (about 0.5 units/lb/day for a 50-pound child would be 25 units total daily).
- You have not taken antibiotics for 3 or more days in the past month.
- You have no serious long-term health problems (like certain cancers, heart, liver, or kidney disease) or active infections.
- You have not taken probiotics for more than 3 days in the past month.
