GLUT1 targeting trial for type 1 diabetes

  • You must be 18 years or older at the time your blood sample was taken.
  • You must have a confirmed diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.
  • Your blood sample must already be stored in the San Raffaele Hospital biobank and you must have previously agreed to let it be used for research.
  • You cannot have other major health problems that could affect the study results.

Study of immune-modulating drugs for new-onset type 1 diabetes

This study tests two different medications (Anti-Thymocyte Globulin and Adalimumab or Verapamil) to see if they can slow down the loss of insulin production in people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of the treatments and will be followed for about a year to see how well their bodies still make insulin.
