Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 80 years old.
  • You have a degenerative spine problem like spinal stenosis, a worn disc, or a slipped vertebra (spondylolisthesis) that your doctor plans to treat with a single-level MI-TLIF surgery.
  • You have not had spine surgery at the same level before.
  • You are not at high risk for bleeding or complications from tranexamic acid (TXA), including no history of seizures, blood clots (like DVT or PE), or allergy to TXA.
  • You have no major kidney disease (GFR less than 45), liver disease, or a bleeding disorder.
  • You are not taking blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs) within 7 days before surgery, and your blood clotting tests and platelet count are normal.
