  • You are between 45 and 70 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a planned heart surgery (not an emergency).
  • Your overall health is classified as Class II or III by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (this means you have mild to moderate health issues).
  • You do not have allergies to numbing medications or local anesthetics.
  • You do not have chronic pain or long-term use of strong painkillers (opioids).
