- You have significant health conditions (ASA Class 3) and are scheduled for open-heart surgery via sternotomy or thoracotomy
- Your BMI is 30 kg/m² or less (roughly, a weight that is healthy for your height)

- You do not take pain medications regularly or have chronic pain
