Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old.
- You are scheduled for a minimally invasive heart surgery, such as valve repair or replacement, closure of a hole in the heart, or bypass surgery.
- Your heart's pumping function is at least 45% (a measure of heart strength).
- Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18 and 35.
- You are healthy enough for surgery other than your heart condition (classified as ASA II or III).
- You have not used strong painkillers (opioids) for more than 3 months and do not have chronic pain requiring long-term pain medication.
