Who can take part

  • You are between 22 and 80 years old.
  • You have degenerative disc disease in one level of your lower back (between L3 and S1) and need fusion surgery.
  • Your back pain significantly limits your daily activities (Oswestry Disability Index score of 35 or higher).
  • You have tried non-surgical treatments (like medication, injections, or physical therapy) for at least 6 months without success.
  • You are a candidate for an anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) approach.
