Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are being admitted to an intermediate care unit, general internal medicine ward, or cardiology ward for congestive heart failure.
  • You have a high NT-proBNP level (at least 1000 ng/L, a marker of heart strain).
  • You do not have isolated right-sided heart failure or very low blood pressure (systolic below 90 or mean arterial below 65 mmHg).
  • You do not have specific lung diseases (like interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, ARDS, or recent COVID pneumonia) that could mimic fluid on lung ultrasound.
