This study looks at blood markers (natural chemicals in your body) after a cardiac arrest that happened outside the hospital. If you are unconscious and in the ICU, doctors will test your blood to try and find clues about your recovery.

Who can take part
- You had a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital
- Your heart started beating on its own again (called ROSC) and stayed beating for at least 20 minutes without CPR
- You are unconscious (not able to follow commands like 'open your eyes') or are sedated because you were agitated after your heart restarted
- You are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with no planned limits on life support
- You were enrolled in this study within 4 hours of your heart restarting
