Blood tests and scans to measure muscle loss in liver cancer

This study looks at whether measuring certain proteins in your blood (myokines) can help detect muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people with liver cancer, and compares these blood tests to special CT scans. If you're newly diagnosed with liver cancer and have a CT scan already, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You have been newly diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma).
  • You have a CT scan of your belly and pelvis taken before starting any treatment.
  • You do not have any other type of active cancer besides liver cancer.
  • You do not have an HIV infection that is not well controlled by medicine.
