- Age 18 years or older
- Diagnosed with septic shock and currently receiving a blood pressure medicine called norepinephrine at a dose of at least 0.1 micrograms per kilogram per minute
- Started on norepinephrine within the last 24 hours
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- No known allergy to methylene blue
- No personal or family history of G6PD deficiency (a blood enzyme problem)
- Expected to live longer than 48 hours
