Who can take part

  • You must be between 30 and 60 years old if you have degenerative disc disease (DDD), or between 18 and 50 if you are donating fat or placenta tissue.
  • You must be willing to sign a consent form to participate in the study.
  • If you have DDD, you need to have a moderate to severe disc problem (Pfirrmann grade III-V) and be scheduled for spinal surgery.
  • If you are donating fat tissue, you must be having surgery that removes fat (like a lipectomy).
  • If you are donating placenta tissue, you must be pregnant or have given birth within the last 6 hours.
  • You cannot have HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or syphilis.
