Who can take part

  • You are between 22 and 85 years old.
  • You have moderate to severe disc degeneration seen on an MRI (a special scan).
  • You have had low back pain (not shooting down your legs) for at least 6 months, and it hasn't improved with at least 3 months of treatments like physical therapy or medication.
  • Your pain is severe enough to score between 40 and 90 on a 0-100 pain scale, and your disability from back pain is moderate (score 40-80 on a disability questionnaire).
  • You haven't had surgery on your lower back, and you don't have metal implants or devices like a spinal cord stimulator in that area.
