Who can take part
- You are 65 years old or older.
- You are scheduled for a lung surgery such as removing a lobe, segment, or wedge of lung, or a complete lung removal, or a bullectomy.
- Your kidney function is not at end-stage (you are not on dialysis and your kidney function is not extremely low).

This study looks at why some people develop kidney problems after lung cancer surgery using small incisions (VATS). By tracking your recovery, the doctors hope to find ways to protect your kidneys during and after surgery.
This study looks at how often acute kidney injury happens after a type of heart-lung surgery called pulmonary endarterectomy, which is used to treat blood clots or tumors in the lung arteries. This study gives an immunity-supporting nutrition plan and an oral cleaning product before and around surgery to help older adults avoid breathing-related complications. It is mainly for people at higher risk of post-surgery lung problems, and it checks whether the approach is safe and helpful.
This study tests whether a special nutrition drink with omega-3 (a healthy fat found in fish) can help people recover better after lung cancer surgery. You may qualify if you are about to have lung removal surgery.
This study tests whether an “optimizing nutrition” plan before and after cancer surgery can help older adults maintain physical strength and daily functioning. You may be randomly assigned to the nutrition program or another study group, and you’ll be asked about diet and physical function.
