Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a specific type of brain surgery (microvascular decompression).
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • Your ear exam (otoscopy) looks normal.
  • You have either normal hearing or mild hearing loss in the ear being operated on.
  • The surgeon can reach your hearing nerve during the operation (no large tumor blocking it).
