Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older
- You have severe to profound hearing loss (average 70 dB or more) in one ear, but still have some hearing at 500 Hz in that ear (70 dB or better)
- Your severe hearing loss started after you learned to speak and has lasted less than 15 years
- Your inner ear (cochlea) is normal in shape, and you have no other ear problems like infections or past surgery
- You are scheduled to receive a specific Advanced Bionics cochlear implant (HiRes Ultra with SlimJ electrode)
