Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
  • You are on a breathing machine and your doctors think you might be ready to try breathing on your own (weaning).
  • You do not have other serious lung conditions like bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, or lung scarring.
  • You do not have a tracheostomy tube.
