Brain stimulation for memory and thinking after stroke

This trial tests if a gentle brain stimulation technique called tDCS can help improve memory and thinking in people who have had a stroke. It is for those who are still in the early recovery phase (between 10 days and 5 months after their stroke) and have some ongoing cognitive problems.

Who can take part

  • You had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blood clot) at least 10 days ago but less than 5 months ago
  • You have some trouble with memory, attention, or thinking (scoring below 26 on a standard cognitive test)
  • You do not have severe depression or an unstable medical or psychiatric condition
  • You have not had a brain surgery that removed part of your skull
  • You do not have any implanted medical devices in your brain (like a deep brain stimulator)
  • You do not have severe vision or hearing loss, severe language problems, or a diagnosis of dementia or epilepsy
