Who can take part

  • You’re an adult (18 or older) who had a stroke with symptoms starting within the past week
  • Your brain MRI shows an ischemic stroke (not just a TIA or a scan-negative event)
  • You spoke and understood English before your stroke
  • About 30 days after your stroke, your stroke severity score (NIHSS) is under 8
  • About 30 days after your stroke, you can do daily activities fairly well (mRS 0 to 2)
  • You can safely do MEG brain scans for up to 1 hour and travel to College Park (UMD) for them
