Understanding blood vessel function in angina with small vessel disease

Who can take part

  • You have angina (chest pain) and a recent test showing your heart's small blood vessels aren't working well (blood flow reserve less than 2.5 or hyperemic flow less than 2.3 ml/g/min).
  • You are not a woman who could become pregnant (must be postmenopausal for at least 1 year or surgically sterile).
  • You do not have heart failure (ejection fraction less than 40%) or uncontrolled high blood pressure (above 140/90).
  • You do not have a serious illness that limits your life expectancy to less than 1 year.
  • You are able to exercise (no injury or arthritis that prevents it) and are not already very physically active (your current maximal oxygen uptake is 45 ml/kg/min or less).
  • You have no known allergies to norepinephrine, adenosine, ketorolac, or vitamin C.
