  • Your baby must be diagnosed with open spina bifida (myelomeningocele) and have planned surgery within the first year.
  • The surgery must be done at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
  • Your baby should not have other major health problems that are not related to spina bifida.
  • You must be able to speak English or have access to translation services to give permission for the study.
