Who can take part

  • Your child must be at high risk for a type of brain injury called periventricular white matter injury (this includes being born very early, weighing less than 2.6 kg, or having certain birth complications)
  • Your child must have had an MRI scan of the brain between the ages of 6 months and 2 years, with clear pictures (T1 and T2 scans)
  • Your child’s doctor must have checked whether they have cerebral palsy or another condition, and that information is available for the study
  • Your child must have complete records of their muscle and movement skills (like sitting and walking)
