Creatine for stroke recovery

This study tests whether taking a daily creatine supplement for a few weeks can help people recover movement better after a recent clot-caused stroke. If you've had a stroke in the past 1 to 5 days and need rehab for weakness or coordination issues, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You had a recent (within 24 hours to 5 days) clot-caused stroke.
  • The stroke makes it hard to move your arms or legs (weakness or poor coordination) and you need rehab.
  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You can walk without another person's help (cane, crutch, or walker is fine).
  • You haven't taken creatine or anabolic steroids in the last 3 months.
  • You don't have severe kidney disease or a history of allergic reactions to creatine.
