Comparing breathing help methods for newborns

Cardiac Arrest

This trial tests two ways to help newborns who are not breathing well right after birth. One method gives a sustained breath followed by chest compressions, and the other uses a 3:1 ratio of breaths to compressions. The goal is to find out which works best to get babies breathing on their own.

Who can take part

  • Your baby is between 28 and 43 weeks of pregnancy (born full term or a bit early).
  • Your baby needs full help to start breathing (no planned comfort care only).
  • Your baby does not have any known major birth defects or chromosome problems.
