  • You are in the emergency room's resuscitation bay.
  • You need a breathing tube placed through your mouth while awake or sedated.
  • Your doctor expects you may have low oxygen during this procedure.
  • You are getting extra oxygen before the procedure or have a lung problem, high oxygen need, or other risk factors.
  • You are 18 years or older and not pregnant.
  • You are not in cardiac arrest and did not already have a breathing tube placed before arriving.
