Who can take part

  • You have a type of throat cancer that is HPV-related (p16 positive) and started in a neck lymph node, but the original tumor hasn't been found yet.
  • You are 18 years or older and willing to join the study.
  • You must be able to carry out daily activities with little help (ECOG score 0-2).
  • The cancer is only in one lymph node on one side of your neck, smaller than 6 cm, based on scans.
  • You must not have had any other active cancer (except certain skin or thyroid cancers) or head/neck cancer in the last 2 years.

Reduced radiation after surgery for advanced head and neck cancer

This trial looks at whether giving less (de-escalated) radiation after surgery is as effective and safer for people with locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma who had a strong response to treatment before surgery. If you had no remaining cancer or only very small amounts of cancer left in the surgical specimen, this approach may help reduce side effects while keeping control of the disease.
