Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and having open kidney cancer surgery (nephrectomy).
  • You are in good to fair health (ASA class I, II, or III).
  • Your BMI is between 15 and 35 (not very underweight or very obese).
  • You do not have severe kidney failure (on dialysis or eGFR below 15).
  • You do not have severe liver failure or heart failure (NYHA IV).
  • You are not already taking strong painkillers called opioids for a long time.
