- You are 18 years or older
- You have MDS, a related bone marrow disorder, or acute myeloid leukemia (AML)
- You are receiving low-intensity chemotherapy (not high-dose chemo or a transplant)
- Your platelet count is very low: 30 or less, or 50 or less before starting chemo
- You do not have a history of blood clots, heart disease, or severe kidney disease
