Who can take part
- You are 50 or older, or have a health score that limits how strong the pre-transplant chemo can be.
- You are able to take care of most daily tasks yourself (Karnofsky score 70% or higher).
- You have high-risk MDS or AML that is active, in remission with measurable disease, or came back after treatment.
- You have a matched sibling or unrelated donor (8 out of 8 HLA markers match, or a single mismatch is okay).
- Your liver, kidney, lung, and heart function tests are within safe limits.
- If you could become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control; women must have a negative pregnancy test.
