Who can take part
- Age 55 to 75 years old
- Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and currently in first complete remission (leukemia cells gone) or near-complete remission
- Have a suitable haploidentical donor (a family member who is a partial genetic match, like a parent, sibling, or child)
- Heart, lung, kidney, and liver function within acceptable ranges to tolerate chemotherapy and transplant
- Generally able to care for yourself with no more than assistance needed for some activities (ECOG performance status 0–2)
- No active, uncontrolled infections, severe heart disease, HIV, or active hepatitis B or C
