- You have a type of rectal cancer called 'locally advanced' that can be surgically removed, and it has been confirmed by a biopsy.
- The cancer has not spread to other parts of your body (like the liver or lungs).
- You are at least 18 years old.
- Your daily activity level is good: you are able to care for yourself and can be up and about most of the day (World Health Organization performance status 0–2).
- Your bone marrow, kidneys, and liver are working normally (based on blood tests).
