This study tests whether a medication called L-DOPA (used for Parkinson's disease) can help predict how well older adults with depression will respond to treatment. You will take a single dose of L-DOPA and then do simple tasks to measure your mood and thinking.

Who can take part
- You are 60 years or older
- You have a diagnosis of moderate to severe major depression
- You have been on a stable dose of your antidepressant (or other psychiatric medication) for at least 4 weeks
- You do not have dementia, active psychosis, or a history of heart attack, seizures, or certain eye conditions
- You are not actively suicidal, and you are not taking high doses of anxiety medications or dopamine-blocking drugs
- You can complete tests in English and have no major hearing or vision problems that can't be corrected
