Who can take part

  • For people with type 2 diabetes: you must have had diabetes for more than 5 years, or have moderate microalbuminuria (small amounts of protein in urine), or have non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (early eye changes from diabetes).
  • For healthy volunteers: you must be over 60 years old and not have type 2 diabetes.
  • You must speak and understand Danish.
  • You must be able to give written consent to participate.
  • You cannot exercise vigorously more than once a week (for diabetes group) or twice a week (for healthy group).
  • You cannot have had a heart attack, certain heart problems, stroke, depression, or thyroid issues.
