Who can take part
- You are between 30 and 55 years old.
- You have not been exercising regularly (less than 1 day a week) for at least 3 months.
- If you are in the healthy control group: your BMI is under 27 and you have normal blood sugar.
- If you are in the prediabetic group: your BMI is over 30 and you have prediabetes (based on blood tests) and at least two other metabolic syndrome features.
- You are not pregnant and do not have type 2 diabetes.
- You do not have any heart condition or other health issue that would make resistance exercise unsafe.
